History Harvest: Memories of Grand 16

Saturday, July 22, 2017 - 8:00am to 12:00pm

On Saturday, July 22, researchers from UL Lafayette Department of History will be hosting a “History Harvest” at the Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market at the Horse Farm to collect oral history stories of community responses to the Grand 16 Theater Shooting at the 2-year anniversary. It is for a larger study on disaster response at the community level. We are looking for your memories of:

• where and how people found out about the Grand 16 Theater Incident,
• how you personally responded or helped out after it took place,
• what sort of impact it had on the Lafayette community,
• and, how it compared to other disasters in Lafayette history.

The oral history interview will take 5 minutes and will help provide valuable information on disaster response in Louisiana.
