Johnston to Speak on Opelousas During the Civil War

Kallie Johnston will put the cap on her first year as a Public History M.A. student by making a presentation on Opelousas During the Civil War. The presentation will take place on Saturday, May 18, 1-3 pm, at the Opelousas Museum & Interpretive Center. It is free and open to the public.

About the presenter: Kallie Johnston is a graduate student in the master's program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, majoring in Public History. She has a special interest in local history and loves exploring the diverse peoples of the community and their customs, experiences, and presence. Originally from Church Point, she enjoys helping others, like her grandparents, learn about how important they are to our history.  Her goals are to make a difference in the way we tell difficult or traditionally untold histories, and to inspire everyone to discover who they are.
