History Harvest

The History Department organizes a unique community project on French speaking heritage in Louisiana. It is part of our Public History projects. The objective is to create an online collection of objects, documents, photographs, letters and other items about the history of the unique Louisiana French Heritage. We invite you to use the new photo/audio mobile app PixStori™ to get to know each other and document our Louisiana French Heritage!
The process is very simple. With this app, you take a photo of an object, a painting, a book, or of an old photograph, and add a voice comment or story, and a text label. Upload the “PixStori” to our own web gallery!  It’s free and easy!

1. Download free app to iPhone or iPad (Android Next Summer!)
Send a text to 24587 with the message LAFH.   You’ll get an immediate return text with one-click links to install the PixStori app and a special ShareLink or our project.

2. Make some PixStories
Take a photo with your phone of the objects/items/picture about Louisiana French Culture. Then record an audio story (from a few seconds to a few minutes) or comment about the document (press the record button). Tell us about the items and how it relates to Louisiana French heritage.

3. Share your PixStories with Culture Camp
Tap the Share Option       and select the  ShareLink. Your Photo-Audio PixStori will be uploaded to our PixStori Portal.  We will display the collection on our website.
