Joseph Giavotella
Joseph Giavotella is a Visiting Instructor of Philosophy. His teaching interests include Existentialism & Phenomenology, Ethics, Aesthetics, and Literary Theory. He has also worked as an Emergency Management Grant Specialist and applies his professional experience to courses on business and medical ethics. Following his graduate thesis on phenomenological methodology, his research currently focuses on a phenomenological investigation of aesthetic experience through our everyday encounter of works of art, things of use, and natural beauty. Giavotella's paper on this research received an honorable mention in this year's round of the Theodore Kisiel prize for emerging scholars, to be presented at the 2026 Heidegger Circle satellite session of the Eastern American Philosophical Association Conference in Baltimore, Maryland.
