Jordan Schultz Earns Award for Excellence in Geographic Studies
Mon, 05/19/2025 - 2:49pmJordan Schultz, from Scott, LA, and a Spring 2025 distinguished graduate with a BA in History and a minor in Geography, was awarded the 2025 Undergraduate Achievement Award in Geographic Studies at the departmental awards program held recently at the Center for Louisiana Studies. Jordan's work in Geography focused on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) earning 21 hours of GIS credit at the undergraduate level. In addition to coursework, Jordan worked as a GIS specialist intern over the course of two semesters. At Oceaneering International, Inc., Jordan used both ArcGIS Pro and AutoCAD Map to produce projects using onshore and offshore data. He presented his findings at a special event for the company's summer interns at one of its corporate offices in Houston, Texas. At the Iberia Parish Government, Jordan worked with the GIS supervisor on a project to upgrade the Parish's GIS command applications to ArcGIS Enterprise 11.3. This project included upgrades and app building for several of the parish government's departments. Jordan plans to work toward a career in the field of GIS and Geography. Congratulations, Jordan!
