Giavotella Earns Recognition from Heidegger Circle

Congratulations to Joseph Giavotella, who received an honorable mention in this year's round of the Theodore Kisiel prize for emerging scholars, to be presented at the 2026 Heidegger Circle satellite session of the Eastern American Philosophical Association Conference in Baltimore, Maryland. Giavotella will also present the paper, entitled "From Hammer to Wall-Hanging: A Possible Phenomenological Account of the Aesthetic in Heidegger’s Sein und Zeit,”  at the conference.

The Theodore Kisiel Junior Scholar Award is presented by the Heidegger Circle for the best submission on any topic in Heidegger scholarship from postgraduate and early career researchers for its annual Satellite Session at the Eastern APA. Up to two honorable mentions are featured on the program.

Giavotella’s recognition comes after his completion of the 2024-25 Heidegger Circle Mentorship Program. This one-year program is designed to 1) support emerging scholars whose work involves Heidegger in some way and 2) foster cross-generational community within the Heidegger Circle. The program is dedicated to supporting emerging scholars who are preparing for career milestones and institutional advancement.
