Rodriguez Staying Busy
Wed, 11/12/2025 - 2:44pm
Sarah Rodriguez, associate director for Public History and the Guilbeau Center for Public History, has had a busy couple of months.
In October, Rodriguez chaired a panel on "Oral History in Memory/Therapy" at the Oral History Association Conference in Atlanta. The panel brought together folks working in music therapy, aging and race, and hospice with oral history to discuss their methods, the strengths and weaknesses of oral history in different disciplines, and the innovation currently happening in oral history research.
Rodriguez also collaborated with Dr. Marissa Petrou, GA Morgan Pierce, and UGRA McKenna Robert to host a Museum on the Move exhibit out of the 1954 Airstream trailer for UL Lafayette's Ignite Professional Development Conference in October. In the photo, l-r: Robert, Rodriguez, Pierce.
Finally, Rodriguez was selected to participate next semester in the College of Liberal Arts’ COLA Intersections lecture series. Sarah will be discussing her M.A. thesis research: "Private Lives, Public History: The Sex Trade in Natchez, Mississippi During the Civil Rights Era, 1950-1982."
