Graduate Studies in History

While many history graduate programs traditionally lead to positions in higher education, the successful completion of a history graduate degree is excellent preparation for entering a variety of fields — archival and museum work, government policy and research positions, historical publishing as well as careers in both public office and private business. History Graduate Program

The Department of History, Geography, and Philosophy at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette offers unique opportunities and special fields of study in the history graduate programs, including public history.

We offer a limited number of Master's assistantships. These carry a tuition waiver and a monthly stipend—enhanced with endowed funds—and require degree-related work assigned by the department. Duties may include teaching assistant, editorial assistant, or work in research centers, at the department's discretion. Assistantships are awarded to highly qualified students on a competitive basis and are subject to availability and current needs of the department.

For questions about the history graduate programs please feel free to contact the graduate coordinator Dr. Jordan Kellman at jordan.kellman@louisiana.edu or 337-482-6900.
