Department of History, Geography & Philosophy
As the home of foundational disciplines in the humanities and social sciences, the Department of History, Geography, and Philosophy invites you to think critically about the human experience across time and space.
As a department, we focus on the study and analysis of human actions and ideas. Our faculty members are among the best in their field, and they work closely with our students to develop and enhance their ability to think critically, write effectively, speak persuasively, and construct compelling arguments—skills that are necessary for a successful career in any field.
We're also known for thinking out of the box. We've designed a traveling history museum called Museum on the Move, taken students on field experiences with our GeoTours excursions, and we're finding ways to tell our culture's stories through new technology.
Whether you are interested in taking an elective, declaring a minor, major, or pursuing a graduate degree, we invite you to make us your academic home. We offer bachelors and masters degrees in history as well as minors in geography and philosophy.
